Executive Director
Prior to joining Impumelelo, Ms Kadalie was a Human Rights Commissioner responsible for the Western Cape and Northern Cape, an academic and founder of the Gender Equity Unit at the University of the Western Cape. Ms Kadalie has travelled extensively internationally, presenting lectures and papers on human rights and gender politics in South Africa.
In 1999 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Liberal Arts from the University of Uppsala, Sweden.

Evaluations Manager
Is a qualified Social Worker and has an M.A in Research Psychology. Prior to joining Impumelelo, he was a Land Reform and Targeted Poverty Relief Researcher at Budget Information Services at IDASA. While stationed there he investigated whether the Land Reform Programmes and the Targeted Poverty Relief Programmes of Government reflected the needs of the poor and contributed to poverty alleviation. His current research interests include defining what Sustainable Development is, whether it is possible, whose needs it addresses and whether it is likely to meet the needs of the poor.

Senior Administrator
Since 2000, she has been managing the Impumelelo administration and finances. She has extensive working background in the NGO sector, having worked for organisations such Kagiso Trust as well as the National Programme for Primary Health Care.

Mark Lotter started as Marketing Manager and Fundraiser at Impumelelo in July 2006. However, his history with the organisation stretches back to 2002 when he completed a 6-month internship as assistant to the then Information Officer. Previously he worked as Account Executive for Corporate Image, a corporate communications consultancy with clients such as Sun International, I&J, Pick n Pay, SAB Ltd amongst other South African companies and organisations. He completed his BA in Communication and Political Science at the University of Canberra in Australia and a Professional Designation in International Trade and Commerce at UCLA. In October 2006 he completed ‘Principles and Techniques of Fundraising’ at Indiana University’s Fundraising School.

Impumelelo’s resident photographer, Candice started as an intern in 2007, responsible for the annual Impumelelo magazine. She is a photojournalism graduate from Rhodes University, majoring in Politics, History and Journalism and Media Studies. She has a history of community development with organisations like Habitat for Humanity and Amnesty International. Her task at the organisation is to keep the media informed about Impumelelo’s activities and award winners.
