DONORS

Impumelelo counts the Ford Foundation, The Open Society Foundation for South Africa (OSF-SA) and the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation as core donors. Ford provided the initial grant to establish Impumelelo in 1999.

THE IPLG

In the mid 80s, the Ford Foundation began its support of a number of different initiatives around the world that are dedicated to identifying and disseminating experiences in a variety of areas of public activity that are making a significant contribution to service delivery. There are currently ten such programmes in Brazil, Chile, China, Indian Nations of the USA, Mexico, Peru, Phillipnes, South Africa and USA. These programmes make up the Innovation in Governance & Public Action Liaison Group (IPLG)

This portal is produced by the Ash Institute for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard Kennedy School, and is a marketplace of ideas and examples of government innovation.

ASH INSTITUTE

Research and dissemination is a hallmark of the Ash Institute's continuing effort to catalyze innovation and explore the actual processes of democracy. Research results in papers, monographs, books and case studies which are used in the Kennedy School of Government's manaagment curriculum and in other programmes.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT

Links to organisations and websites about local government in South Africa. Many Impumelelo award winning projects have come from South Africa's municipalities which is the delivery arm of government.

CIVIL SOCIETY

Links to civil society organisations focusing on research, local government and service delivery in South Africa.

INTERNATIONAL AWARDS

Impumelelo award-winners have had remarkable success at international award programmes focusing on, and, supporting best practice in public service and innovation in service delivery. The United Nations Public Service Award and the Dubai Awards are two of these programmes.
