Impumelelo's Best-Practice Workshop Coming to the Northern Cape
South Africa’s Best and Brightest Ideas in Social Development Coming to Kimberley!
[Cape Town, 3 November 2009] The Impumelelo Innovations Award
Trust team will be hosting one of their coveted best-practice workshops
in Kimberley, on the 13th of November at the William Humphrey’s Art
Gallery at 9am.
Top Impumelelo award-winners from across the country, who have found
solutions to public problems in areas like urban agriculture, housing,
sanitation, waste management, and environmental education, will be
presenting their work to public managers in the Northern Cape. Members
of the media, municipal and governmental practitioners, including NGOs,
are invited to attend to learn from these exemplary examples of public
service.
The Northern Cape is an often-neglected region, and the province that
has yielded the least number of applicants for the annual Impumelelo
Innovations Awards, who celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. As a
result, Impumelelo Executive Director, Rhoda Kadalie notes that
“Impumelelo is bringing our expertise we have unearthed through our
award cycle to the people responsible for delivery of basic services in
the province. We aim to encourage replication of best-practice by cross
pollinating models that have proven to work in areas of need”.
