Impumelelo Series on Best Practice
Impumelelo's Series on Best Practice is for sale and available by order. After Impumelelo's first five years a database that included almost 1 000 projects was collected. This database contained information of how projects were initiated and implemented, their effectiveness, and whether they stayed the course. Its value was undeniable as this information existed nowhere else. From this resource there were lessons to be learned, pitfalls to be avoided, and wheels that need not be reinvented.
In an attempt to make this information available to those
implementing government policy, Impumelelo commissioned its first seven
studies: in HIV/AIDS, Security and Justice, Sanitation and Waste,
Housing, Public Works, the Environment, and Water.
The relevant projects were revisited and analysed with the intention
of aiding government to move towards models of best-practice. Used as a
resource manual at Impumelelo's national sector workshops of
best-practice, the case studies have proven invaluable to government
and civil society alike.
Since 2004, Impumelelo has produced a further three case studies which
resulted in three of Impumelelo's best attended national sector
best-practice workshops in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Impumelelo's case studies form part of its core function - building
capacity for service delivery - and continuing to produce these from
our ever-growing network of best-practice is what sets Impumelelo apart
from other awards
programmes.
