This case study focuses on water delivery and the management and conservation of water resources. Some best-practice models are drawn from the Impumelelo database, as are instances of schemes, some of which won Impumelelo awards, that have subsequently failed.
In these examples an attempt is made to analyse the circumstances that led to the collapse or ineffectiveness of the initiative.
This case study gives detailed examination of nine projects that cover a range of approaches to water usage from technology that provides clean water cheaply to supply options suitable for dispersed populations in difficult terrain.
