A community based self help programme for disabled adults, who produce and sell arts, crafts and furniture, in a venue provided by the province, and who share the costs of overheads and profits between the members.
The People's Housing Process - Housing as an instrument in holistic development
Low income residents are given access to a range of financial resources to enable them to own and build housing, with ongoing support, technical assistance and advice, using the resources within the community.
Paarl Hospital Community Gardens
Agricultural skills training is provided to unemployed community members, who then become part-owners of a small agri-business, while receiving ongoing technical advice and assistance and social support.
Mbonambi / Mpukunyoni Rural Primary Health Care
A primary health project, which provides a range of interventions, including a number of clinics, a preventative health education programme, a clean water scheme and community health workers.
Klapmuts Consolidated Municipal Infrastructure
A community development concentrating on the upgrading of infrastructure and the provision of housing, and relying closely on community consultation both for the formation of the development plan, and its implementation.
Educational Toys Library
Educational toys for children under 9 years are made available on a loan basis, together with basic training to lenders, and specialised training to pre-school teachers on the usage and benefits of the toys and how to care for them.
Eastern Tubatse Cluster Project
The project encompasses a range of community development projects which rely on community labour, including road upgrading, community resources, and resources for income generation opportunities.
Crime Reduction in Schools Project (CRISP)
The project encompasses a range of interventions from the various university disciplines, delivered in a school setting to raise awareness and reduce crime amongst youth.
20/20 Cataract Surgery
Cataract surgery is offered to indigent patients during weekend time, in order to decrease the massive backlog in this necessary and life-changing medical procedure.
The Carpenter's Shop
Destitute and homeless street-people are provided with accommodation, counselling, life-skills, training and employment, with the ultimate aim of rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
Philani Nutrition Project
The project addresses malnutrition in under 6-year olds by providing rehabilitation through feeding, education and information, and through the provision of income generating activities for destitute mothers.
Mosaic Court Support Desk
The project offers counselling to victims of domestic violence seeking legal interdicts, while at the same time assisting them with the legal process. The project is based in the court building, and uses trained volunteers.
Free State Association for Persons with Disabilities
Three projects which focus on the disabled, providing basic care, health services and accommodation, employment opportunities in a specific work facility, and a training and placement programme to find jobs for the disabled in the open market.
Othandweni and Ekuthuleni Transitional Housing Project
Two partner projects which work with adult street people and street children respectively, offering nutrition and health services, skills training, transitional accommodation and personal growth development.
Bathhouse - Cookhouse Project
The development of facilities for informal traders at Park Station, and the refurbishment of sanitary facilities, which are run on a commercial basis by an organisation of ex-prisoners.
