Rhoda Kadalie
Executive Director
Executive Director, Rhoda Kadalie, has been at the helm of Impumelelo since its inception in 1999. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Liberal Arts from the University of Uppsala, Sweden in 1999 and; in 2007 she recieved an Honorary Doctorate of Literature from her alma mater, the University of the Western Cape. Prior to starting Impumelelo, Rhoda served as a South African Human Rights Commissioner, responsible for the Western Cape and Northern Cape; worked as an academic and founded the Gender Equity Unit at the University of the Western Cape. Rhoda has travelled extensively abroad, presenting lectures and papers on human rights and gender politics in South Africa. She is a columnist for Die Burger and Beeld.
