HIV/AIDS II

Venue: Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), Cape Town
Date: 11-12 September 2008
Delegates: 111

Snapshot of issues discussed:

  • South Africa has 13% of world epidemic. The infection rate has increased from 4% in 1990 to 30% in 2008.
  • NGOs are at the epicentre of innovation in service delivery. Burn-out amongst workers is high. Support systems are therefore urgently needed so that they can continue doing their work.
  • How is the treatment of HIV+ people integrated and prioritised into a country that has many competing developmental priorities?
