Workshops
The Impumelelo workshops are a platform and forum for award winning projects to share lessons and to encourage and train others in a particular development sector to adopt and replicate their successes elsewhere in South Africa.
Capacity Building for service delivery is Impumelelo’s core mandate; therefore the workshops are designed to get public managers who have similar objectives to talk to each other freeing them from silo thinking and improving service delivery. In the past many of these managers from around South Arica meet for the first time at an Impumelelo workshop, for example the nine HIV/AIDS and Expanded Public Works (EPWP) provincial coordinators met each other for the first time at Impumelelo’s first HIV/AIDS workshop in 2007 and the Public Works workshop in 2005.
The workshops are also a forum for Impumelelo award-winning NGOs to let government know what they are doing and potentially an opportunity to become part of government’s service delivery programme. Previously, Impumelelo has hosted workshops in the HIV/AIDS, Skills Development and Employment, Sanitation and Public Works sectors.
